In Guatemala, the heart of our Christmas celebration beats loudest on Christmas Eve, much like in England. Our festivities kick off on the 7th with the Burning of the Devil, followed by honoring the Virgen of Guadalupe on Dec 12th. Throughout, the traditional posadas, captured in the photos below, weave a tapestry of cherished customs. Contrasting this, England revels in the tradition of sending Christmas cards to acquaintances and stealing a kiss under the mistletoe. The pinnacle, however, is the grand gathering of family and friends on Dec 25th. Notably, Santa Claus goes by the name Father Christmas in England, and Boxing Day is designated for indulging in leftover delights—a stark contrast to my Guatemalan memories of eagerly awaiting cinema premieres. Join me in relishing the festive moments captured in the photos. Wishing you a joyous Feliz Navidad! 🎄🎅 #ChristmasCelebrations #CulturalTraditions |
